staff and students to Tampa Bay.
Friends and families filled USF’s Yuengling Center to watch their 2024 graduates walk
across the stage – fulfilling a long-awaited dream for many after the pandemic canceled
their high school graduation ceremonies.
The U.S. Department of Defense challenged the country’s top cybersecurity minds in
a skills competition. CyberHerd team captain and computer science and engineering
student Waseem Albaba came out on top, defeating 3,000 competitors.
The new TGH Behavioral Health Hospital and the recent announcement that USF will create
the Florida Center for Behavioral Health Workforce – funded by a new state law – demonstrate
the university’s leadership in addressing the critical need for mental health services.
USF’s historic invitation to join the Association of American Universities has taken
what many in Tampa Bay have once considered a “best-kept secret” to an unprecedented
new level. Joining the AAU is a tremendous milestone for USF as it formalizes USF's
position as a leading research university. USF is the first public university in Florida
to be invited to join the AAU in nearly 40 years and is now one of only two institutions
from the State University System of Florida to serve as an AAU member.
Elizabeth Spiller has more than 10 years of experience as an academic leader, having
served most recently as the executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer at
the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
With artificial intelligence technology rapidly advancing, USF students will soon
see some changes in their courses and how they participate in assignments. USF’s Innovative
Education is helping faculty integrate it into online courses – serving as a test
case for broader course instruction.
